Saturday 9: The Best Thing about Me is You

I'm gonna try my hand at participating in a weekly blog post called Saturday 9.  I know it's not Saturday but it is in Australia, so yeah, I'm playing by my rules.

I've never participated before so let's see how it goes....

Complete Post from Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: The Best Thing About Me Is You (2010)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) What would you say is your best quality? I am a good friend.  Too good actually.

2) In this song, Ricky sings that he's "allergic to tragedy." Do you suffer from any allergies?  Not really.  I think as I have gotten older I'm developing some seasonal allergies but nothing full blown.

3) Benadryl, the popular allergy medication, is sometimes used to treat insomnia. What do you do when you can't sleep?  I suffer from insomnia.  It's no joke!  Luckily one of the meds I take helps me in the sleep department.  If it doesn't I usually just watch movies or look up random stuff on the internet.

4) The lyrics to this week's song encourage us, "Don't wait untilmaƱana." Are you a procrastinator?  Yes and I hate it, but I try hard not to be.

5) Ricky Martin is a judge on The Voice ... Mexico, aired on Mexican television. When you watch competition shows like The Voice, Dancing with the Stars or American Idol, do you usually agree with the judges? Or do you think you could do a better job? I used to watch American Idol but I stopped years ago.  Not really big on competition shows.  I get too emotionally involved and feel terrible for the contestants.

6) Ricky tells interviewers that when he was very young, he'd sing in the family kitchen, pretending a wooden spoon was his microphone. Crazy Sam admits to lip synching into a black Magic Marker. When you gave imaginary concerts, what did you use as a microphone? I don't remember using anything for a microphone but I sure did rock out to my Annie and Sound of the Music records (yes, I said records, big black round thing with a tiny whole in the middle).

7) Ricky began working at the tender age of 9, performing in commercials. How old were you when you received your first paycheck?  If we aren't counting babysitting then I was 15.  Retail, it was awful.

8) Ricky does yoga to stay in shape. Have you ever tried yoga?  No, but I tried Zumba once and that was fun.

9) Ricky is of primarily Spanish descent, with a little French mixed in. When you think of French cuisine, what comes to mind?  Escargot and horse meat.  Yuck on both of those things.

Now it's time for your to answer your own Saturday 9 questions.  Go to this week's Saturday 9:  The Best Thing About Me is You blog post and link up!

  1. Welcome to Saturday 9. Loved your answers (maybe because so many were similar to my own. Great minds and all that.) I didn't know the French ate horse meat. (Shudder.)

  2. I didn't know the French ate horse meat, either, but really I don't see where it's any different from eating a cow. Welcome to Sat. 9, I hope you enjoy it and come back again and again.

    1. Yep, one of the few things I remember from my 5 years of French class. What a thing to remember. But you're right. Different cultures eat different things. Thanks for the welcome!

    1. I know, right? Yech! But to each their own. Zumba was super fun. I tagged along with a friend but life got in the way and I haven't been back, plus I don't belong to that gym. Thanks for the welcome. Glad to join in and hope to continue.

    1. It was hard but super fun, and no one cares if you get the moves right as long as you keep moving and are fun.

  5. I'm an adventurous eater, I would probably try horsemeat--no, scratch that--I wouldn't.

    1. I'm not an adventurous eater. I don't eat red meat and there is no way I could eat horse meat. But I'm sure some of the stuff we eat is disgusting to other cultures.

  6. Eating horse meat is a thing. Apparently it's big in Mexico too. Check out what Wikipedia has to say about it...
